I love this time of year because people are so open about their goals. We are now halfway into January and I know there are people who have already walked away from them. The hype of a new start has worn off and it is starting to get hard. Are you still willing to work? Let's talk about ways to continue our motivation!
One thing I do every single night is write down my dreams. I have a notebook next to my bed and before I go to sleep I write down what I am working towards. I got this idea from Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis and seriously it is the best habit I've started in a while. I am currently traveling on vacation and most definitely brought that notebook with me. Even on vacation I need to remember my goals and making myself think about them every single night keeps that motivation going!
If you are like me you may have found that your goals are kinda big. That's great but remember you are not going to accomplish them in a month. I like using weight loss for this example because it seems many people make weight loss goals. If you want to lose 10 pounds you shouldn't expect it to take a month. A healthy rate of weight loss is about .5 to 1 pound a week. That is over 2 months of eating in a calorie deficit and working hard in order to accomplish your goal. You can expect big goals to take a while to accomplish which can lead to discouragement. To battle that discouragement I like to set small goals that will lead to my main goal. So maybe set a goal to lose 5 pounds that way it is faster to achieve success and it will keep you on track!
Staying positive is also really important. Try and surround yourself with people who will encourage you. I know this isn't always easy and you are going to run into people who don't understand what you are working for. That is OK, they don't have to understand them and you don't have to explain them. These are YOUR goals not theirs and you do not have to justify them to anyone. When I really started working towards my current goal I went through my social media accounts and found positive uplifting accounts to follow. That way as I'm scrolling I see positive people and quotes and ideas. You need to surround yourself with people who have the same mindset as you!
At the end of the day it is up to you to put in the work to accomplish those goals. Believe in yourself because you can do a lot more than you give yourself credit for! Be Strong!
