Are At Home Workouts Better?

This is an easy one, nope! It doesn't matter where you exercise just as long as you move! I know some of you opened this post expecting to hear how at home workouts are by far better than going to the gym and it's the only way. Well I'm honestly not going to tell you that because there isn't one set answer. No one can tell you what is better for you. This is something you need to figure out for yourself. At the end of the day it doesn't matter if you're working out in a beautiful gym or your kids playroom, the calories you burn don't know the difference.

So which is better? Well I guess that depends on what your are looking for and what works best for YOU and YOUR family. This is what I love about both options!

I tend to workout in both places though my at home workouts make up probably 75% of my week. This isn't because I don't like going to the gym, I actually love it. I make this decision because I feel it is the right one for MY family. I can tell you, from experience, there are a lot of people who do not understand this. The way I look at it is that when I'm at the gym I'm there for an hour plus 20 minutes of travel in each direction. That's an hour and 40 minutes I'm away from my family. This is something I personally struggle with. I have become very open about my struggle with anxiety and the more I am away from them the more anxiety I have. During the week I have limited time with them because I am a working mom and out the door by 6:15 am. Sometimes I leave before they even wake up. By the time I get home dinner has to be prepped, homework folders need to be gone through, and lunches for the next day need to be made. Not to mention other household chores that have to be maintained now add going to the gym I would maybe see my kids for 40 minutes that night and for me it isn't something I was willing to do consistently. Are there times during the week that I go to the gym, absolutely! So my Monday - Friday is mostly at home workouts. On the weekends if we don't have other commitments I'll go to the gym. I'm by no means saying what is best for anyone else besides my family. If you are able to make it to the gym

Let's talk the gym because I don't want you to think I'm just in favor of at home workouts. I'm really not it is just what works best for MY life at this time! Going to the gym gives me that alone time that is so important when you're a mama, or a dad. I get to focus on my needs for an hour without anyone asking for a drink or a snack or both! I crave those moments and it is important that we take time for ourselves. I also find that I push myself so much harder when I'm at the gym. There is just something about doing a workout with other people that motivates me so much more. I love the environment and the vibe my gym gives off. I always walk out feeling so confident. That in itself is a good enough reason to make it there when I can.

At the end of the day no one can tell you what is right for you. This is a decision you have to make entirely based on your life and schedule and there is no right or wrong answer. Maybe some weeks you mostly hit the gym and then other weeks you work out mostly at home. GREAT! As long as you are getting up and moving that is the right decision! Don't let other peoples opinion make you feel bad about your choices. I can tell you from my experience not everyone gets my choice to workout mainly at home, and that's ok. My decisions are based on the needs of myself and my family. Keep rocking it and Be Strong!
